We have seen him break bones, and smash heads on the big screen, a reel action hero who is a trained martial artist, Vidyut Jammwal was loved for his anti-hero debut role in the movie ‘Force’ (2012), and there has been no looking back since!
Fondly referred to as ‘India’s answer to Bruce Lee and Tony Jaa’, Vidyut has created a niche for himself in the film industry. His power-packed performance as a lead in the movie ‘Commando’ (2013), where he performed real-world combat-based action without the aid of stuntmen, garnered him appreciation from fans, and critics alike. The film was showcased internationally for the first time in July 2013 at the Fantasia Film Fest in Montreal, followed by a screening at the Fantastic Fest.
Not just a stellar action hero, Vidyut is also a trained martial artist, who is a practitioner of Kalaripayattu, one of the finest forms of martial arts that requires top-level grit and determination. He trains for 8 hours a day to be able to pull off the stellar stunts we see him doing on the big screen.
Vidyut’s acting skills are not limited to Hindi cinema, for he has starred in a couple of Telugu and Tamil films, which have earned him critical appreciation.

Vidyut was ranked in The Times of India’s listing of India’s Top 10 Most Desirable Men in 2012 and 2013. Men’s Health declared him on the List of Best Bodies and Top 5 Fittest Men in 2011 and 2012 respectively. In 2012, People Magazine India listed him as one of The Sexiest Men Alive. In 2014, he was honored as PETA’s Hottest Vegetarian.
His career-defining role in ‘Force’ (2012) earned him Stardust Awards in the category Breakthrough Performance (Male), FICCI Frames Awards & Filmfare Awards in the category Best Debut (Male), and IIFA Awards in the category of Star Debut of the Year – Male.
Vidyut received the SIIMA Awards in the category of Best Actor in a Negative Role for his performance in ‘Thuppakki’.
